Call for Submissions for THE YEAR’S BEST DARK FANTASY & HORROR
(2014 edition covering stories from 2013)

As the editor of the anthology series The Year’s Best Dark Fantasy and Horror (Prime Books), I am now reading for the 2014 edition, which will include material published in 2013. This will be the fifth volume. Please note: This is a reprint anthology.

Dark fantasy and horror are difficult to define and I also cross into about any genre. If you are baffled, my best explanation is here.

PUBLISHERS: I prefer email submissions of PDFs rather than hard copies if available. It saves you the postage and I can keep track of things better. If you must send galleys, magazines, or books, email me for mailing address. If your publication appears on the Web only, please make me aware of it. WRITERS: Please ask the publisher of your collection or of periodicals and/or anthologies you appear in to send me copies of their publications.

DEADLINE: February 1, 2014, but the sooner the better! I may be done by February 1…I’m updating this at the end of October, so, like it says: the sooner the better…

Winners of the Locus Awards were announced during the Locus Awards Weekend in Seattle WA, June 28-30, 2013 and Shoggoths in Bloom by Elizabeth Bear was named as best collection. Although it is not Bear’s first Locus Award, it is Prime’s first. Congratulations to the much-deserving author!
